No 97 – Ce sont les dames de Paris – avec Dana Whittle

Avec Dana Whittle. Dana a appris cette chanson avec son refrain virelangue de Camille Lépine, de Joliette, lors d’un rassemblement des « pois chiches », une bande de femmes qui chantaient ensemble pour s’amuser. Camille l’avait trouvé dans un livre de chansons acadiennes et son partenaire Jean-Paul Loyer l’a aidé avec la mélodie. Dana a fait sa propre version avec accompagnement et l’a chanté avec Dentdelion et Tess LeBlanc, qui l’a enregistrée sur son album « Si ça me chante ». Selon nos sources (merci, Robert Bouthillier!), elle a été recueillie dans les années 1920 par Édouard-Zotique Massicote auprès de Philéas Bédard de Saint-Rémi-de-Napierville, Québec. Une interprétation décontractée, y compris un opéra entomologique.

With Dana Whittle. Dana learned this song with its tongue-twisting refrain from Camille Lépine, of Joliette, during a gathering of “Les pois chiches” (the chickpeas), a gang of women who sang together for fun. Camille found this tongue-twister in a book of Acadian songs and her partner Jean-Paul Loyer helped figure out how it went. Dana made her own version with accompaniment and performed it with both Dentdelion and Tess LeBlanc, who later recorded it on her album “Si ça me chante”. According to our sources (merci, Robert Bouthillier!), it was collected in the 1920s by Édouard-Zotique Massicote from Philéas Bédard of Saint-Rémi-de-Napierville, Québec.
