No 130 – Valse des Cantons / Valse Joséphine – avec Michel Leblanc, Jean Cantin & Dana Whittle

Avec Jean Cantin, Michel Leblanc et Dana Whittle. La première pièce est jouée dans bien des cantons. En naviguant dans les détours de l’Internet, on la trouve sous d’autres titres et on voit bien qu’elle en a fait valser plusieurs de l’Irlande aux États-Unis, passant dans le Bas-Canada. Michel a appris la deuxième valse de Rémi Laporte de Saint-Liguori; elle nous viendrait possiblement de Joséphine Marsh, accordéoniste irlandaise. N’étant pas sûr de la source ou du titre, nous l’appelons la Valse Joséphine.

When browsing the many twists and turns of the internet, we can find this tune with a panoply of titles, and we can clearly see that it has been danced to from Ireland to the USA, with stops along the way through Lower Canada. Michel learned the second waltz from Rémi Laporte of Saint-Liguori; it may come from the repertoire of Irish accordionist Josephine March. Because we aren’t sure and don’t know the title, we refer to it as Josephine’s Waltz.
